Not quite that. But I know what you mean. I have the newest Modest Mouse, largely because of the Johnny Marr connection, but I'm not a big fan. It's okay, but I don't feel like Marr really added a lot. Wolf Parade I know a little bit, but the other two I don't.

You know, Talking Heads were lumped in with the punks when they started. And they don't have many b-sides. Yet they influenced every contemporary indie rock band out there.Pattihttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17295562938792511228noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8666659962343175645.post-61376836833335513132008-12-22T05:41:00.000+01:002008-12-22T05:41:00.000+01:00Pancakes, This is a good post. Although I knew a bit about your predispositions beforehand, now I can hold you explicitly to them!

I was curious: are you at all familiar with this "new" line of music that's kind of a mash-up of punk with Talking Heads b-sides? Bands like Wolf Parade, Sunset Rubdown, the Handsome Furs, Modest Mouse, etc. They seem to be catching notice of some older musicians (Johnny Marr, for instance, guests on the newest MM album) and I've recently been listening to them with greater frequency.

Looking forward to catching up in KC.
JoshJDPhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06340545485785235190noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8666659962343175645.post-53628460204334402112008-12-19T07:27:00.000+01:002008-12-19T07:27:00.000+01:00I remember Breakfast for Beatlovers fondly.
